"I don't think this is the end," says Big Brother producer

Big Brother executive producer Katy Smith has revealed she doesn’t think Big Brother 11 will be the end for the show, but that it will benefit from a rest. Smith was looking for potential housemates at the Glasgow auditions at the weekend, joined by Big Brother 9 runner up Mikey Hughes.

A healthy number of hopefuls turned out for the auditions for the ‘final’ series, with Mikey saying: “This is the last opportunity to star in one of the biggest reality TV shows in all time.”

Katy Smith told Herald Scotland: “I think it will benefit from a rest, but I don’t think this is the end of it

“It still has so much more to give. It’s been one of the most talked about shows of the decade. It’s shaped TV history. Other countries have rested it, and it’s come back an even bigger success. I think that might happen here. I would be very surprised if this was the last you saw of Big Brother.”

But what did the auditionees think?

“It’s the last one so it’s our chance to go down in history,” said Fergus who had been travelling since 5am to get to the auditions. “The first ones and last ones are the ones that people remember, this is going to be a big one!”

“We used to get Big Brother in Greece,” an international hopeful told the paper. “It was popular but it has been many years since a new episode.”

The final rounds of open auditions take place in London on the 6 and 7 of February at Wembley Arena. Full details can be found on the Channel4 website.
